DESIGNER COLLECTIONS ZANDRA RHODES Zandra Rhodes is a multitalented designer of textiles, clothes, operas and interiors. Zandra’s own lifestyle has proved to be as dramatic, glamorous and extroverted as her designs. With her bright pink hair, theatrical make-up and art jewellery, she has stamped her identity on the world of fashion. She was one of the new wave of British designers who put London at the forefront of the international fashion scene in the 1970’s. Her use of prints, patterns and bold color have given her garments a timeless quality that makes them unmistakably a Rhodes creation.
She is an icon of modern fashion who draws on her love of rich colors and interesting textures for her fur line. Incorporating elements of hand painting and stenciling she gives her signature look to reversible Persian lambs and ultra feminine minks. Having dressed everyone from Rock stars to Royalty, Zandra Rhodes will be archiving all her designs in her Fashion and Textile Museum in London. Since 1995 she has brought a sense of whimsy and fun to her ultimately very wearable furs. Visit www.zandrarhodes.com to learn more. Click here to view the Zandra Rhodes FW09 Fur Collection. MICHAEL KORS Mr. Kors began his career in fashion at the age of 19 designing and merchandising a collection for the renowned boutique Lothar's in New York City. The success of these clothes caught the attention of the fashion press, prompting Kors to strike out on his own. In 1981 the Michael Kors label was formed; his first women's collection was launched at Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue. Since his collection was established, it has never strayed from Kors' initial vision of chic, luxurious American sportswear.
The collection of Michael Kors furs created by Pologeorgis is an extension of the Kors ready to wear line and aesthetic. Michael is the ultimate American ready to wear designer. His customer is as comfortable throwing on a Russian sable jacket as they would a cashmere sweater. From broadtail pea jackets to mink trench coats, his styles radiate with the relaxed and modern spirit of luxury sportswear. Pologeorgis has been working with Michael Kors since 1996. Chado furs are for a clientele who appreciates precision in cut and luxury in fabrics. He is an expert at draping and accentuates the beauty of details with hand sewing and embroidery. Mr. Rucci is insistent that the furs are of the highest quality, the most silvery of Barguzine sable and thinnest of broadtails. Ralph Rucci crafts each of his furs into a work of art. He is a treasured creator whose work will continue to inspire all who seek refinement, beauty, and even peace in the world of fashion. Visit www.nymag.com to learn more.
